Erik Volchanov
I'm trying to be somebody
Name: Erik Seymon Volchanov
Nicknames: None that he is aware of.
Age / DOB: 24 / May 19th
Gender: Male
Hometown: Ecser, Hungary (just outside Budapest)
Occupation: Mechanic
Sexuality: Homosexual
Marital Status: Single
Family: Ivan Volchanov (father), Alexandra Volchanov (mother), Annabelle Volchanov (younger sister, adopted)

Appearance: Erik is a young man of average height, standing about 5' 11" and weighing in around 165 lbs. He's mostly muscle, from his years playing ice hockey and mechanical work. He keeps his brown hair a little long, so it hangs into his blue eyes, and occasionally forgets to shave. Erik cares nothing for fashion, and is usually found in jeans and a t-shirt, although he does have a leather jacket that he wears almost exclusively during the colder months. He also has multiple tattoos including a simplistic phoenix along his right rib cage, a set of engine gears on the left side of his chest and a copy of MC Escher’s ‘Relativity’ around his right calf. There is a long, thin scar along his left hip from an ice skate during a hockey game when he was 15.
PB: Zac Efron
Personality
I'm not trying to be somebody else
Erik has always been quiet. He tends to fade into the crowd, and does not like the spotlight of attention, but he can be both arrogant and condescending, with a sarcastic streak a mile wide. He's intelligent and soft spoken, but that doesn't mean he's a pushover - quite the opposite, in fact, because he’s stubborn to the point of irrationality. When he is upset or emotional, he has a tendency to mix up his languages, and will switch randomly between the three he speaks without being conscious of or even noticing the change. He’s also determined and focused, although this can cause problems when combined with his competitive nature. Erik is extremely compassionate and loyal, and will always help a friend in need, although it takes time and effort to earn his trust. If that trust is betrayed, however, he is capable of holding a grudge for a very long time, while setting himself against his enemies in any possible way. He prides himself on being able to adapt to change quickly, which has served him well with the development of his powers. While Erik was wary and hesitant to use his telekinesis when it first manifested, he has since embraced the change to his life, and actually probably uses his power more than he should.

Quirks & Habits: Using his ability almost constantly, at least when not in public, cursing solely in Hungarian, rubbing the tattoo on his chest when deep in thought.

Likes: Motorcycles, fast cars, New York sports teams, spoiling his little sister, ice hockey, playing piano, cigarettes
Dislikes: Public transportation, sunburns, blizzards, being stuck inside, horror films, cranberry juice, anything lemon flavored, driving in the rain
Powers
This life is mine I'm living
Power Name: Telekinesis
Capabilities: Erik's power allows him to move objects with merely a direction of thought. However, because this definition is so broad, other have classified his ability into more understandable sections:
+Levitation: the ability to lift an object
+Telekinetic Maneuver: altering an object's directional course
+Telekinetic Grip: being able to to grasp an object firmly in place and keep it from moving by some other force
+Telekinetic Pull/Push: the ability to pull objects towards or to push objects away himself
+Object Manipulation: being able to alter an object's inner workings (such as unlocking a door)
Limitations: The larger an object, the more difficult it is for Erik to manipulate. While he is capable of moving things larger than he would be capable of doing physically, it is both mental and physically draining for him to use his power on large objects or for an extended period of time. Additionally, in rare moments when he is in a heightened emotional state (such as being unusually angry or upset), Erik does have a tendency to lose control, causing things to move or shake unintentionally.
History
Don't you know me? I won't ever let you down.
Erik comes from old money on his father's side and newer money on his mother's side. Ivan Volchanov met Alexandra Nicholsen on vacation in Spain when he was 23 years old. She had just graduated from high school in the United States and was touring Europe with a group of friends before they all began the rest of their lives. The two spent an entire summer together, and quickly fell in love. They became engaged when Alexandra discovered that she was pregnant. Six months after their marriage, Alexandra gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy they named after Ivan’s uncle.

Although Erik was born in Hungary, he spent his childhood bouncing between his eastern European hometown, his father's parents' home in southern Spain, and his mother's family strewn throughout various parts of the United States. He attended a private school in western North Carolina from the ages of six to fourteen, and became a US citizen at the age of 15. He subsequently speaks fluent Hungarian, Spanish and English.

The summer after he turned 16, Erik spent most of his time hanging out with his American cousins and some their friends in New York City. It was then that Erik met Jared, the seventeen year old best friend of his oldest cousin. After a few weeks of flirtations, Jared kissed Erik on the sidewalk of Times Square and all the night lights of the city, and that was when Erik knew why the few kisses he'd had from girls never really did it for him. Erik lost his virginity to Jared a few days later, and for the rest of the summer, the two were practically inseparable. But the fairy tale wasn't destined to last. Four days before Erik and his family were set to return to their home in Hungary, Jared died in a car accident when he skidded off the road during a thunderstorm. Erik was heartbroken upon hearing the news. Although Erik has since come to terms with Jared's death, it still impacts him in certain ways, such as his difficulty connecting emotionally anyone who might be a romantic partner. It's not intentional, or even conscious sometimes - he just does not want to have his heart broken again.

It was during his period of grief that Erik's telekinesis manifested. At first he believed the illness was a variation of the flu - until the objects around his room began to move, shake or levitate while he was particularly upset. Erik kept his thoughts and his power to himself, not prepared to have his life ripped out from under him if someone were to find out.

Erik spent the next year and a half much as he had the rest of his life - going to school, playing ice hockey, and spending time with the different members of his family around the world, all the while experimenting and learning his power when he had time to himself. When he was 19, his parents adopted a baby girl named Annabelle. Erik has spoiled his sister from the moment she was brought home, lavishing her with anything her heart desired.

After graduating from high school, Erik attended vocational school for mechanics, since cars became his passion after a broken ankle took him out of ice hockey for months. His choice in this, rather than attending one of the prestigious colleges he had been accepted to, caused a tension between Erik and his father. That tension came to a head the night that Erik came out to his parents, which Ivan would not accept. In a shouting argument filled with expletives and derogatory names, Erik lost his temper and every object smaller than a piece of furniture began to float and move sporadically around the room. Neither he or his parents have spoken of that night since, about either of the revelations Erik provided.

Moving to New York City at the age of twenty-one was a rather impulsive decision on Erik's part - he wanted to be out of his parents' range from their home in Atlanta, but he wasn't ready to leave a large city for something smaller. While he was a little worried about the memories that might haunt him, he's found a home that doesn't trigger those and his work at the mechanic shop keeps him busy enough that he doesn't have much time to think about it.

Four months ago, Ivan and Alexandra were in a boating accident on a friend's yatch off the Atlantic Coast. While neither of them died, they were both seriously injured and it will take months if not years for both his parents to recover - if they ever wake up from their respective comas. In the interim, Erik gained legal custody of Annabelle, a change that has turned his life upside, but in a positive manner. Anna has drawn him out of the rut he didn't realize he had fallen into, and he is happier with her around, even if he is saddened by the circumstances that brought them to this point.

I am not Erik Volchanov, nor am I Zac Efron. None of this is real, it's just for fun.
